Dave The Idiot

In the novel The Gigantic Beard That Was Evil, we meet Dave. Dave is a weird person that likes to sit alone and draw the things he sees and admire the people around him. He is very invested in himself and mostly in his looks. Dave always had a small single mustache hair on his face that never disappeared whatever he did to it, he tried waxing it, plucking it, shaving it, and snipping it off, it came right back after half an hour. The same day he went to the doctor to check it out, the doctor started examining it and couldn’t help him because it’s the doctor’s first time dealing with something like this. The next day Dave went to work frustrated and greeted his boss but his boss didn’t recognize the tiny hair on Dave’s face. After a while, the boss called him to the office for the presentation and in the middle of explaining the boss’ jaw dropped and became quiet, at that moment Dave instantly knew that his boss saw the hair so he ran to the bathroom as fast as he could and locked himself inside because he was insecure. A couple of minutes later his boss came to check on him because he had a presentation in a couple of minutes.

Dave was afraid to do the presentation but he took a deep breath and went in, and in the middle of the presentation his face started to feel weird and suddenly his face was full of hair and started to grow a huge beard in a second. All the people in the office looked at him and gasped from what they saw on his face and they kicked him out. Dave started running home as fast as he could and his beard started growing and growing every minute, and the doctor told him that he had a hormonal imbalance. Dave locked himself at home and started panicking and thinking of what people would say about him.

Yes, Dave has body dysmorphia and he always wants to look like the people around him. He felt good about himself and wasn’t worried about anything but his one tiny mustache hair ruined everything. Dave felt that way because he cares about looks more than anything and he doesn’t want anything to ruin it, because of that one string of hair it ruined his life he got embarrassed in front of everyone in town. That’s why Dave has body dysmorphia now.
